Patti Lagos, Instr. & Differentiation Specialist, Admin TOSA


My name is Patti Lagos. I’m so excited to be the new Instructional & Differentiation Specialist at NSJ. 2019-20 marks my 26th school year as an educator and my 7th in an instructional support position.  I’ve taught German in South Dakota, been an instructional coach in northern Virginia (near DC), and had the pleasure and experience of serving five Minnesota districts: North Branch, Eastern Carver County, Anoka-Hennepin, Mounds View and Minneapolis. I have taught German in grades 7-12 and EL in grades K-12.  In addition to teaching, I have served as an EL Coach and Lead Instructional Coach, and previously as Instructional Specialist in MPS (2017-18). I have had the absolute privilege to support and collaborate with amazingly dedicated educators and administrators in PreK-5, 6-8, 9-12, ALC and district level buildings. 

I earned a Bachelor's degree in German Education at MN State Moorhead (Go Dragons!), a Master's degree in Teaching and Learning through Saint Mary’s, an additional licensure in ESL through Hamline, and most recently completed an Education Specialist degree in 2014 at Concordia St. Paul to become a licensed K-12 Principal. I serve as a program facilitator for Teaching and Learning Master's in Ed program at Saint Mary's University, and during the summer of 2019 I served the Breakthrough Collaborative as an Instructional Coach for aspiring teachers.  I am passionate about teaching & learning, culturally & linguistically responsive instruction, social justice & educational equity. 

Personally, I love to Latin dance (salsa, bachata, merengue, cumbia). I play mandolin and sing bluegrass with my family whenever we can, and I have 3 children (20, 12, 10). 

I hope to support NSJ staff, and our scholars and families by fostering equitable, relevant and responsive instruction, and a safe, positive learning environment. I hope to gain important perspective, and support the teachers and scholars however I can for many years to come.
