Kelly Wright, Principal
I am honored and excited to begin my third year here as the Principal of Nellie Stone Johnson. It will be my privilege to serve the students here at NSJ. I started my educational journey 29 years ago in the Minneapolis Public Schools right on the northside, and I am truly thrilled to return.
I would like to take this time to welcome All families to NSJ. I welcome our returning families and our families that are new to the school. I am so glad you are here! The entire NSJ staff is looking forward to an awesome school year, working with you to ensure all of our students will achieve and believe to reach their highest potential.
I look forward to building a strong school-family connection with the students, staff, and families of NSJ. You have entrusted us with your most precious possession, your child, and I do not take that lightly. We want to partner with you in this work. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities and you can help us with this partnership by making sure your child is at school and ready to learn. Also, listed below are a few things that will help your child have a successful school year:
- Completes all assignments given by teachers
- Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills
- Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life
- Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject
- Knows that you expect him/her to succeed in school and go on to college
It is going to be another fantastic year of learning at NSJ! As always, thank you for all you do to support your
child’s education.
