2015 NSJ Loppett Ski Event

Nellie Stone Johnson completed its fifth Minne-Loppet season in 2014-2015. Nellie Stone Johnson is coached by Jon Miller and volunteer Nancy Nelson (Coach “Mom”) and led by physical education teacher Jennifer Stecker. Students ski in the school’s athletic fields on trails groomed by the Foundation. Nellie Stone is sponsored by the Pohlad Family Foundation.

The Minnesota Youth Ski League provided ski equipment for use in the course is 1.5 kilometers.  The NSJ students were among hundreds of school children that participated in Saturday's Minne-Loppet in Minneapolis — part of the weekend's slate of events at the City of Lakes Loppet.

The event is sponsored by the Minne-Loppet Foundation, which has raised about $250,000 to help teach elementary school children skiing and provide lessons on health and nutrition. Over the past decade the Minne-Loppet Foundation has helped teach more than 3,000 north Minneapolis elementary students how to ski.

Thank you Volunteers for the time and work you gave during the NSJ Minne-Loppet Event on Saturday. We were very fortunate to have you oversee their activities. Our staff at NSJ is very grateful for dedicating your time with the NSJ students.  Thank you for your willingness to show up at NSJ to help student with ski boots and getting them ready for the race at event made a great difference.
