Kindergarten Art

In Kindergarten art the students begin learning the principle and elements of art.  
 

Student's will learn:

  • Line
  • Shape
  • Color
  • Pattern
  • Texture
  • Symmetry
Primary Color Cats

In this lesson, kindergarten students read the book The Cat in the Hat by Doctor Seuss.  Then the students created their own cat using only primary colors.

 

Minnesota State Standard: 0.1.1.5.1 Identify the elements of visual art including color, line, shape, texture and space.

Shape Towers

In this lesson, kindergarten students used scissors to create their own tall building.  Each student cut out a variety of shapes and used markers to add an environment to their towers.

Line

In this lesson kindergarten learned the seven different types of line: straight line, thin line, thick line, curved line, wavy line, zigzag line, and spiral line.  The students learned how to use oil pastels and watercolor paint.
