Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers play an important role at NSJ. Everyday family members, community members, corporate volunteers, and college students enter our building with one goal in mind: to help our students achieve success. Volunteers enrich our school and our students' educational experience. We are very grateful for all of the volunteers we currently have and are always looking for more volunteers to help make our school a better place to learn and grow.

Volunteer opportunities during the school day (8:05am-2:20pm):

  • Literacy (reading/writing)
  • Math
  • Science
  • General classroom assistant
  • ELL (English Language Learning)
  • Junior high humanities (a combination of English and Social studies, with a focus on Minnesota history)
  • Gifted and Talented program
  • Physical Education
  • Instrumental music
  • Vocal music
  • Field trips
  • Media center/technology assistant
  • Office assistant
Other volunteer opportunities available:
  • After-school (tutoring & activity assistant)
  • Special school events (i.e. Inventor's Fair, Multicultural Show)
  • Family Fun & Learning Nights (One Thursday a month from 5:30-7:30 p.m.)
  • Help from home (typing papers, translating text into Spanish or Hmong, correcting papers)
