MPS will likely cancel classes if the National Weather Service predicts that the wind chill will be -35°F (-37°C) or colder at 6:30 a.m. MPS will consider canceling classes if the National Weather Service predicts that more than 6 inches of snow will fall in 12 hours or more than 8 inches of snow will fall in 24 hours. Every winter storm is different, so it is possible that classes will still be held even if wind chill or snowfall reaches these limits.

"Seven boys from Nellie Stone Johnson Elementary School are being groomed for the state chess tournament in St. Paul on Saturday and Sunday. After that, it's only six weeks until the national tournament in Nashville. Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program Grant

NSJ is proud to announce that we are one of the 7 MPS schools awarded a Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program Grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.  Beginning April 19, 2012 a fresh fruit or vegetable snack will be provided each school day for all students in our school. Snacks will be eaten in the classroom and children will be encouraged to try the fruit or vegetable.  Read more...
